I got this crate for a great price from Amazon’s warehouse due to the box being damaged. Nothing wrong with the actual product whatsoever, so I’m very pleased. Now before I get to the likes and dislikes of it, I just want to say that before purchasing ANY crate you really need to assess your dog’s temperament/personality, decide how the crate will best suit your needs and then do a lot of research on how to train the dog to it. Especially before actually leaving the dog unattended in it. It’s meant to be a safe space, a place of calm and relaxation not doggie jail. A crate is like any other tool, if you don’t use caution or proper training you’ll run into problems. Doing your research will cut down on “safety concerns.”Likes: Sturdy crate, very easy set up. Took two seconds.I have a 45lb Boxer/Jack Russell mix and he fits nicely in this crate. Enough room to turn around, lay down and stretch out with no problems. Tall enough for him as well.Secured a crate water bowl on the inside and had no problems doing that.Dislikes: The door latches are just a straight sliding bar, it’s not L shaped. My dog is old and not going to mess with anything so he won’t be escaping but the latches really should have the L shape. All in all I’m very satisfied with the purchase and would buy again.

I’m not sure why amazon isn’t allowing me to add a picture to my review, but this cage is wonderful! I’ve always purchased wire crates from the pet store, and they arent cheap. So when I came acrossed this one that had a front AND side door, for way cheaper than what i usually pay, i had to try it. It’s great quality, and on top of how nice the 2 doors were- it also came with a DIVIDING PANEL! Usually, crates with dividing panels are so unbelievably expensive. If I had known how great this crate was, and that it came with a dividing panel that actually worked well, I would’ve bought the crate a size up and just used the panel to keep adjusting the crate size until my pup was full grown. I’ll be happy to purchase this crate again though, the next size up, when my pup does get to be full grown. Great product at a great price!!

Very happy with the product. Easy to assemble and sturdy once assembled. Easy to follow instructions. We do have a puppy. He is about ten pounds and will stay a small dog. We bought this for nighttime, because he was tearing up our kitchen walls. It is also helping with potty training. He does not like to pee so close to his bed and I am glad he is better at holding himself.I would not recommend this carrier (length is 30 inches) for a larger dog or one much bigger than my 10 pound chihuahua mix. It is just big enough for a little bed, a bowl of water, and a potty pad for nighttime.Easy to fold for storage or if you have to take it with you.I really like this carrier. Packaging was great and nothing was damaged. This also saved me money. They were way more expensive in the stores in my town.

I bought this for my Cane Corso puppy. He’s a fast grower, so I wanted a crate size that would accommodate him when he’s fully grown. The quality is good and there were no unfinished edges or any issues I could note that other reviews mentioned. I love the fact that it comes with a divider already since my puppy is way too small for the whole crate and I didn’t want to give him space to urinate or defecate when left alone. The strength of the metal and the finish are very good. The only negative was that the some of the wires on the divider weren’t properly welded at the ends, but it wasn’t enough to take away a star on the review. It was easy to assemble, I highly recommend.

I work in veterinary medicine. This is definitely not the best crate I have seen. The bottom pan could easily be chewed up by a dog, but luckily my puppy ignores it as she views the crate as her napping/sleeping area. The gates also could benefit from an additional latch. I had concerns of her getting a paw or head stuck with the design but I added some carabiners. It does the job though and my 3-4 month puppy sleeps well in it though the night.

I’m getting a puppy soon and I wanted to have an affordable effectI’ve crate to crate train him. However when assembling this crate it is very difficult to separate to assemble. The package came very late first of all. The crate itself is rusted and I got my finger stuck multiple times trying to assemble. There are also many razor sharp edges that I sliced my hand on many times. The door to the crate itself is also very hard to close. It’s like it’s really stiff almost like a needs to be oiled. I haven’t got my puppy yet so I’m going to see how he does in the crate before I decide if I’m going to return it. But I don’t know it seems not really safe. I have a bed inside to prevent him from poking his foot through the small holes and getting scratched so hopefully that works out. I will update soon.

I ordered this crate to replace one we have been using for a number of years. Ours was shot. This one was already assembled when it arrived, but it folds flat for storage. It was very simple to set up. It has a divider that can go inside it, but we won’t be using that. It is the perfect size and it has these cool rubber feet that keep it from scratching my floors up. The only concern I have is that it has an upper and lower latch instead of a center placed one on the door. I am afraid if we don’t use both they could push it partially open and put their head in there and get stuck potentially hurting them. But we do utilize both latches so hopefully this won’t be an issue. It creates a safe place for my pups to go when they want to be left alone, are afraid, or to keep them confined when we are out at work so they don’t stress and destroy the house. I will update if anything changes.

We have three of these now in 2 sizes and they have been great. They unfold and latch upright easily in a minute or two. As long as youve purchased the right size for your pet its hard to go wrong here. we added a pet bed inside and when it folds down the cushion still fits inside. it has a nice little latch to hold the tray in and a second for when its folded up to keep it folded. For the few messes we had during training we just hosed the tray off and put it back within minutes. As a heads up if you have this where you sleep , it makes a slight squeaking when your pet moves against the sides, its not terrible , but it does exist. Still 5 stars

I have purchased three of these crates in the 24″Lx18″Wx19″H size. I have several elderly dogs that need to be crated at night and while we are not home to prevent them from wandering around and peeing where they are not supposed to go. This size is convenient in several ways:1) It can hold up to a 20lb dog comfortably, as long as it’s a breed that’s not too tall. All mine are terriers, but a leggy animal will most likely need the next size up in order to stand at its full height. My 40lb Boston terrier pit bull mix thinks it’s super fun to ball herself up in there and snooze (with the door open, of course!), even though it’s three sizes too small for her.2) Its footprint is small enough that it can sit atop a bedside table or dresser if you have an animal that needs to be off the floor for any reason.3) It folds easily but is extremely stable and quiet when it has been set up–the sides and top all align and fit together nicely and the wires don’t rattle against each other when the animal moves around inside.4) The crate tray has a non-skid surface rather than the usual slick plastic. I have a super-senior dog who digs underneath her blankets, so it’s good to know she won’t slip on the surface of the tray once she’s underneath her bedding.5) It is relatively lightweight for its size and quality. I have cheaply made, smaller crates that weigh as much or more than these do.6) It fits into the front seat of the car if I need to travel with more than one animal. I love the side door because I can face it toward the driver side for easy access going to and from the vet, etc. And yes, I anchor it with the seatbelt and disable my passenger side airbag when I put the crate there. :-)The critters that chill out in these crates at any given time include a 10 lb scruffy terrier, two 12 lb toy fox terriers, an 8 lb chihuahua mix (I don’t crate any of them together). They have plenty of head space and room to stretch out, even using fat bed pillows as crate pads. I will say that if we needed room for food and water bowls or kennel cups, I’d have bought the next size up. None of ours get fed in their crate and nobody’s in potty training, so we didn’t need to account for extra space to put bowls or pee pads.I highly recommend this crate in this size for small dogs. I can’t vouch for any of the other sizes, but I’ve been very happy with my purchase. After using them for several months, they are still rust-free, quiet and the door latches work well without any grabbing or sticking.

My 7yr old pit mix dog has glaucoma and cancer. Since developing the most recent tumor she can no longer control her bladder. Unfortunately she is needing a cage now. This cage is perfect for her. I bought the 42in and she has plenty of room to stand move turn around stretch. It took about 30 seconds to put together since all you have to do is unfold. Way better than previous cages that I’ve had to build. No damage. 2 handles easy snap on. She has her oversized squeaky toy dog and a bed in there. 2 doors work great. Very easy open my 2 year old let’s the dog in and out. The cage came within 2 days even though estimated time was a week. This is EXACTLY what we needed and well priced too! Recommended!

Great for dogs who are already crate trained and just like their own space to sleep in. My female GSD fits in the 42 inch comfortably whether spread out or curled up. No sharp edges and the latches work just fine for her since she mostly sleeps the whole time. A HUGE plus for us is that the 42” is tall enough for her that even with a 5” tall bed she doesn’t have to army crawl into it. She’s on the smaller end of breed standard but is really tall at the withers and I was having issues finding a crate tall enough that wasn’t a 48”. Very very happy she has plenty of room in all directions. Great price and quality for an affordable 2 door crate as well. If I need another I will happy get this one again.Because of the way the latches are shaped this would not be good for a dog that isn’t crate trained yet or has separation anxiety. Look for a Gunner or Ruffland crate if you need something sturdy. Wire crates in general are not designed to contain much more than the average temperamentally sound dog. Carabiners clipped to the latches would easily keep the crafty escape artists inside.I was also able to shove a Costco memory foam dog bed in there and while it’s not a perfect fit, it lays flat and doesn’t move around. My dog seems to think it’s heaven and loves her happy place so much she chooses to sleep in her kennel at night instead of her favorite couch. Very happy with it in every way.

This XL crate is exactly what I needed for my growing pup. It’s actually a little larger than what I expected, but am pleased with my purchase. It gives my GSP plenty of room to grow and keeps her safe, and my furniture, while I’m at work! Seems very sturdy and the latches work with no issues. A great crate at a reasonable price!

So i was a little scared ordering this because i saw the horrific reviews of dogs dying from getting stuck in the door or being severely injured from sharp corners. However, i did a lot of research and couldn’t really find any crates without a couple of reviews like those. So i went ahead and bought it and it has been so good for us. Luckily, she has not been injured at all and honestly i feel like those few tragic reviews were just awful accidents that don’t normally occur. As long as you make their crate their happy safe space and don’t leave them in their for more than a few hours during the day, you should be fine. I was bummed because the metal was a bit warped, but other than that it’s be great. Good luck!

I ordered a large crate for my 60lb mixed breed rescue so I could put a bed in it and she would have plenty of room to stand and stretch out. She goes in an out of it all the time. In fact she’s napping in there even as I type this. It has two simple latches that are easy to close when I am leaving home. She has not tried to open them, but I think a highly motivated dog might be able to do so. She’s just comfortable in the crate and I don’t leave her for more that 4 or 5 hours at most. I do like having two doors. It makes for more options about where to place the crate. It also comes with a divider that can be used to section off a part of the crate. This would be really handy if one had a puppy and wanted to use the crate for house breaking purpose. Too much “free space” and a pup will pee or poop in the crate. By using the divider the crate can grow with your dog. The crate was fairly easy to set up and comes with handles that can be used to carry it when its folded. It also has little dollars on the bottom to make it easy to move to clean around. They do tend to come off though so don’t sweep them up and throw them away. They’re easy to snap back on.

The box it came in was very beat up and with all the clear packing tape on it makes me believe it was used previously. It’s missing two of the rubber “wheels” and the licking mechanism for when the whole cage is folded up was broken in half. If using for a dog the latch is very easy to open so I wouldn’t recommend it. And the fact that it comes with a decider to separate this cage to make two spaces for tow teacup sized dogs is just inhuman. Thankfully I’m not using it for a dog though. I’m covering it in hardware cloth and using the decider as a loft from a mini travel cage for my very destructive pet rat. She has already destroyed rat crates that were plastic so I decided to get a xs dog cage instead. The hardware cloth helps hold the latch in place and keeps the rats from excaping so I’m happy with that. I just wish I could get the wheel replacement pieces to I can use them.

I purchased this crate for my pitbull terrier Jelani to be able to bring him into the house out of the cold. The crate is a perfect fit for him. The problem came while putting it together. I’ve had crates before, where I had no problem putting them together. I struggled to open this crate and put it together. Upon inspection, I notice that one of the places that I needed to secure one panel to the other, is bent (photo #1). I am not able to secure the two panels to each other. I then noticed that one of the spokes at the rear of the crate was bent. Although the bent spoke should not be a problem, this crate should have been inspected prior to shipping. There was no damage to the box that it arrived in, so quality control was not a concern of the shipper.

It did not open and go up as it should have because a number of the sides were bent and needed to be unbent in order to get it up. I could not do all of them myself. I called the company and they were very helpful, but there were just too many problems.I did get three of them to work, but the fourth involved me crawling into the cage in order to get to the bend that had to be unbent! I am 76 years old and could not do it. I had to wait for a neighbor to assist. Even then, the door opening on the side did not work as it should. I needed to use it right way as my dog had a ruptured disc and had to be immobilized right away. They said I could get a new one, but it would be at least 10 to 14 days before arrival.

My puppy has been able to escape this crate from the first week we had it. At first we thought we didn’t latch it securely, but that is not the case. I guess ease of assembly and easy to fold don’t mean much to me if my puppy isn’t kept secure inside the crate. There is a flaw with the closing mechanism in this style. We have a different style of crate in another part of the house and the mechanism is different and my puppy does not escape.

I purchased this crate (30″) with some reservations (because of the reviews about people’s dogs getting cut/ hurt). I have been very pleased. This crate is very sturdy (but not too heavy)and it comes with an insert so it is able to adjust as my pup grows. I haven’t had any issues with “sharp edges”. I did, however, take notes of the comments and we make sure our pup is not in there with his collar on. It is very easy to pull the pan out and clean it when necessary. My dog is a mini golden doodle and he has already grown 3 pounds since I first purchased this crate. Before I purchased it online, I went to two big box pet stores to compare. This was by far the best deal and I don’t think I compromised on the workmanship. I would recommend this crate if you have a dog like mine and are looking for a reasonably priced option.

42 inch for a Boxer. We recently had to bring back out the crate we bought for our Boxer puppy a decade ago because the old guy was having trouble staying asleep and was waking us up multiple times a night. Well it became clear pretty quickly we had bought a crate that was too small way back then. There was all sorts of advice out there on the internet and I went with the smaller option. I was wrong. Our regular sized Boxer needs the 42 in crate. After the first night he is choosing to go in there for daytime naps. You can see he has plenty of room to stretch out and I don’t have to feel guilty about putting him in there. The crate itself is super easy to unfold and works like my old one (which might be the same brand). The bottom tray is better and super flexible as you can see in the pic. I feel like this was a good price for the quality of the crate. If the bars were thicker it would just make it heavier and it is already heavy now. This conveniently unfolds and packs flat for storage. I am very happy with my choice, I just wish I had made it ten years ago.

So I got these during the Black Friday specials and all that and I was super excited about the price and you know it’s a 32 inch kennel and I guess I should’ve read more into it. They’re not 32 inch tall kennels which is typically what kennel size goes by is the height. The 32 inch deep kennels. So I just want to give it a five star review because the box came and everything was fine and I was like whatever let me wrap them for Christmas you know?. But then I just opened him and I’m trying to put it together and it’s so short my pit bull can’t even hardly stand in it in her head definitely can’t be up. Like these things are tiny and now I have four of them and I’m kind of annoyed.Definitely not the deal I thought I was getting. But I mean the kennels themselves are well-made seemingly you know and it’s that fold out all in one piece thing not the spike through the sides of it while you hold the rest of it together tight so it’s pretty easy to put together I’m just really disappointed by the size It was really deceiving

A great cage for the price! My only issue was when it arrived, the front was latched onto the side when it got folded & shipped, and let me tell you, it was nearly impossible to unlatch so I could actually use the cage. Took my boyfriend and I about an hour of prying with random things I have around the house before he was able to bend it enough to get it disconnected and open. Otherwise though, it was extremely easy to assemble after that. It’s a sturdy cage. The locks are just straight, not bent at the ends (like some do to make it harder for your pup to open them) but my dog hasn’t been able to open it (and he knows how to open basically anything that slides open :/). He was able to manipulate a bit of the bottom bar at the door in an attempt to escape, but it isn’t going to bend enough for him to try to get out & hurt himself. I believe I bought the 42″, not realizing quite how big that was. I have a 60 pound bully mutt, and he’s able to stand up comfortably and we’d be able to fit two of him in there laying down, and it was so affordable that I’m not at all upset that I “spent more than I needed.” He’s pretty happy with the cage and so am I.

Our dog LOVES her new crate! I ordered the 42″ for our 55 lb pit mix and it is even more than I hoped for. She has plenty of room to move around and stretch out she doesn’t have to keep her legs tucked up. She can turn her circles to get just the right spot and totally sprawl out, even flip her hips out if she wants. I can even lay in there next to her if I want (to be fair, I am only 5ft 3in)! I set it up by myself in less than 5 minutes, it was super easy. I checked it for sharp edges that other reviewers had mentioned but there weren’t any. She ran right in to it and stayed in it even with the door left open. It also worked perfectly to contain her & her excitement while our cats approached her & they checked each other out. The crate we’ve been using is the solid type that animals fly in & I don’t think she likes not being able to see all around her really easily. We love this one so much we are going to order another one to replace the solid one in our bedroom & leave this one on the main floor for when we need to contain her outside of bedtime. Also, I ordered it on a Thursday & with Prime shipping, was told it would arrive on Tuesday (weird math, but OK). We received it on Saturday! (2 days, just as it should have been)

This is a mid-end crate for a dog of average temperament. I have owned, raised, and shown dogs for many years. The negative reviews point out dog behavior an experienced dog person learns to pre-disaster. I add snap clips on the doors and openings, to lessen the dog’s ability to try to squeeze out (so sorry to hear of the GSD pup who asphyxiated!). Dogs do learn to pop locks and open doors. Properly crate training the dog so they see the crate as a tool and safe haven lessens a lot of the panicked and determined escape attempts. Also, know your breed. Our 102# American Bulldog blew right through one of these crates, just popped it, when he charged a dog attacking him. He is a gentle, lovable farm dog, but he is STRONG. This crate is not strong enough for a dog like this. They make really heavy duty crates. If the sharp edges bother you- cover with duct tape, file. True that a dog should not be left in a crate or ANYWHERE except on lead with you attached to the other end in a training collar (chain). A nylon or leather collar can also get caught, twist, and he a death trap. Sometimes the “safety releases ” do not release. It is best to remove the collar when crating the dog. If the dog tends to bolt out in strange places, have a slip lead ready. A crate IS a safe place for a dog when unattended if you follow these tips. I bought this for a dog that will mature at 25-30 pounds and expect it to contain her safely for naps, when we leave, etc.

The crate came when It said it would. Unfortunately, there were a few problems. The crate pan was broken in transit. On the bright side, there is a link on Amazon to order a new part from the manufacturer. The crate itself was also arrived bent and very hard to assemble. I have 3 dogs so I am no stranger to assembling folding crates. So my husband and I figured it out. The worst part is the crate doors, even when shut, have a gap with is a safety issue and and it rattles. None of my other crates are like this they all shut securely. I’m afraid my puppy will get something stuck or snagged in the gap. The day the crate was delivered it was raining and the box got wet so even a return isn’t easy. If you have a full grown, bigger dog, and the door gap does not matter, this is probably a fine crate for you. The moral of the story for me is I needed to save money so I purchased from Amazon and now with all these “problems” to fix I wish I had not because I could easily return locally if needed. ACK! Good Luck!

This was meant for our bunny’s night sleeping quarters, as well as her litter box, toys, little house, etc. ( I admit, I may have gone overboard with the size). Everything fits perfectly and she is quite happy. Naturally, being for a bunny, the cage does not have to be as strong as it would for a dog, so I can not attest to that. I encountered difficulty right off the bat (step#2) putting the cage together. I called the customer service number, and lo&behold, a lovely lady answered. Since oral instructions are sometimes hard to follow, she had me take a photo of the difficult area and email it to her! She circled the problematic area, emailed it back to me so I could see what I had to move and solve the problem. Then she stayed on the phone with me as I continued to put the cage together! Thank you PGlesser, you rock!

This crate is really easy to put up. No assembly required as all the pieces are already intact. You just need to unhook and fold. It is durable enough, but if you need to take down and reassemble this on a daily basis it might not last terribly long. The connecting metal pieces look like they could bend/break with wear. I took down and put this up every day for a couple weeks – it got a little beat up, but it is still intact! The door stays latched. This crate is inexpensive enough that I now have two of these so I don’t have to move one around a lot. The clasp that holds the folded crate together is a little flimsy and pops off, but not a dealbreaker. The plastic handle is very flimsy and broke quickly, but again not a dealbreaker. I’m pretty happy with this crate.

My puppy likes this crate (without the divider) better than his hard sided kennel. He had been barking all night long since we brought him home, so we tried giving him extra space just in case it helped (none of the other suggestions I found were helping and it had gone on for a few weeks with no improvement). He likes to sprawl out and sleep on multiple surfaces. This way he can sleep on his blanket or just the bottom of the crate. He was mostly potty trained (never had an accident in his kennel) when we took out the divider. Switching greatly reduced nighttime barking. He only fusses/barks for maybe 15 minutes when we put him to bed once every few days. The downside is that it didn’t take long for my him to figure out how to unlatch the bottom of the side door and get his head stuck. For whatever reason, he’s not interested in the other door. We secure the bottom with an added clip so he can’t get it open and it has been fine.

Disclaimer: Mixed review below1. Amazon description incorrect and MidWest unable to rectify: I purchased this “used, but in very good condition”. According to Amazon, the product would have “small cosmetic imperfection on top, front of sides of item”, which it did – many of them. However, not only did it have those imperfections, which didn’t really matter to me, the pan was cracked and bent (see attached pictures). I contacted MidWest customer service about a pan replacement, but they stated “Since the purchase was used, we would not be able to replace the pan at no charge. The replacement pans are available through on-line retailers. Google search Midwest replacement pan 28PAN, to find specific sites that sell them.” Not too happy about that. I would return it to order a new one but the box it was shipped in was so damaged it would be too much trouble.2. The crate overall is serving its purpose. Thankfully I ordered a memory foam cushion wide/long enough that it covers the crack and dent of the pan.

Assembly instructions need a couple of extra steps.Step 3: Make sure the bottoms of the side panels… blah, blah, blahNeeded:Step 3a: Notice divider panel at bottom of cage. Think to self “I don’t need that for my full grown dog. Going to remove to get some extra space for her.” Attempt to remove divider panel through front door.Step 3b: Curse after you’re able to finally get divider panel upright in cage only to see that it doesn’t fit through front door. Attempt to take down rear panel to remove from that direction.Step 3c: Continue to curse as divider panel gets stuck when try to twist to get it out of way of rear panel (that you need to let down). Unsuccessfully attempt to get hooks out of side of cage. Curse. Grab needle nose pliers to bend hooks straight so that it doesn’t get snagged again.Step 3d: Finally move it around enough to get back panel down so that you can finally remove idiotic Divider Panel. Curse. It would have been so much easier if they had simply NOT put divider panel inside the cage… engineering tip: tape it to outside of cage mess. Only taking off 2 stars because of great price.

I purchased this for my German Shepherd puppy. (He’s 6 months old & already 50 lbs.) When I brought him home @ 8 weeks, he got the hang of the crate in 3 days. Practicing going in & out of the crate, giving treats when he went in the crate, never forcing him in the crate, playing in the crate…now he goes in the crate just to be comfortable. The crate is exactly what I wanted it to be, the puppy’s own personal space. The crate is easy to put together, sturdy. I haven’t noticed any sharp edges. It is massive but that is what he needs. After all, he’s only half grown!

I love the crate but it has some flaws but nothing I can’t live with. It’s a medium grade strength, it did have some sharp edges, and the gap between the lines and the bottom is a tad to big. My 2 medium size dogs get their paws stuck in the gap from time to time from stretching before the get out. Now I filed down most of the burs and loved the double doors so I can turn the cages sideways so the don’t take up as much room. I like that you can fold them flat for travel. I like the dual latches on both doors. I know that if I only latch 1 the dogs can push hard enough to bend the bottom of the door. The minor issues of the gap and the medium strength of the cage is not a problem if your dog is cage trained properly. The sharp edges were but nothing a file couldn’t fix. I would by this brand again

I got this crate disregarding the negative reviews; thinking they were just freak accidents and that it wouldn’t happen to me. I work as an animal control officer. I keep my dog in a crate while working with a doggy cam aimed on him. I checked in on him and saw he wasn’t in his crate. I had to rush home to find my dog with multiple injuries from escaping. He had managed to unlock the top lock and squeeze out. It’s terrifying to think he could’ve died while stuck like I’ve read in other reviews.. I attached pictures of how he bent the crate easily (50 lbs Pit Bull in the 42 inch crate) and his injuries to his face and neck. It’s hard to get more pictures of his injuries because he’s such a wiggler.

I love that this crate is huge, easy to take up/down, and has two doors. I had to get something larger for my husky who is only about 45lbs but she is NOT ready to be left out of a crate due to destroying every ever loving thing in my home, so I wanted to give her something with room to stretch out. I saw all of the reviews about the straight bar latches but chose to overlook that because the pictures made it look like they were atleast well fitted and sturdy. Plus other crates I was finding with good reviews looked to also have the straight bars. It is disappointing because the doors and latches fit soooo loosely on the cage, it barely takes any effort to slide it open so I know as soon as she paws it a few times she’ll be out of there. Currently searching for a solution online and might go with carabiner clips. Don’t mind how sad she looks in the picture, all her blankets were in her old cage at the moment and I put my other dog’s bed in there for her to try it out and she felt uneasy about that. ????

Bought this unit to house my dog when has to step out of house, other wise he will destroy everything I own..My dog has training issues and is takes medications for anxiety so really hard to train, anyways I bought this unit due to its size factor and material strength. When he was smaller I used one of those enclosed type crates and he hated and fought entering it..I believed he felt tortured being placed in one of those cages made of plastic and caged front door. Oh man has this unit made a significant positive situation. Now he loves going inside the unit with out us even asking him to. He is a 9 month old lab and weighs about 70 pounds now and this cage is really big. If he grows more I will have to invest in the bigger unit. This unit is well constructed of heavy duty metal and not worried about him breaking out. Its really large, big enough for my older kids and the dog to sit in it at one time. So pleased with the room offered. Plus it is not enclosed like those other units which makes an animal feel confined and trapped… This unit is airy, allows air to freely enter and exit unit and allows a 360 view so the animal is more comfortable. It is large enough to have water available for the animal. It is great for housing an animal for short periods of time…I do NOT suggest caging an animal for long priods of time, be a responsible pet owner.

Perfect sized crate for my 7 lb dog. I prefer her to have room to walk around, and this crate (36”) gives her plenty of space. I actually keep a pee pad in it just in case I’m later getting home and she isn’t able to hold it. She rarely has to use her pad, but getting a larger sized crate like this does make it possible for her should the need arise without her messing up her bed. This one doesn’t feel quite as sturdy as other crates I’ve had. The reason for giving it only 3 stars is because it appears to be bent and does not fit flat on my floor. It’s wobbly! It isn’t horribly off balance but enough to be annoying. My other crates have not been like this.

It is a well made kennel in terms of the ends being kind of rounded. I did not notice any sharp edges. However, it was very difficult to open it up.One of the side c hooks was too tightly closed. So, I took a chance and pounded with a hammer to open it. Another on the top was off center-not at all to do with the other issue-so, it couldn’t accept the tab.The crate is wired so tight, it was hard to pull up to engage the c hooks on the door because they were off. You have to push the top of it down to do this. The door is so tight it does not swing open and closed-it remains where you open it. That’s ok with me.I messed with it wearing heavy garden gloves after the pinching’s and used the hammer…it will work now. This is my second cage. First one-exact company-I bought from a pet store. Easy to pop up and down.I’m not very strong. But, you have to be for this cage I received or I must return it-so I fought with it for an hour. The lesser of the 2 hassles, I suppose. My new neighbors probably thought I was a good Christian before this afternoon-I forgot my windows were open!

I bought the 48 with double door for my large lab. He hasn’t been crated in a couple of years, and we are restarting training. I wanted something that would feel cave-like and comfortable but that would also allow our other dog to join him if needed. This fits the bill. I figured with a side double door, I could hook her wire crate up to his at the front door and allow them both to enter in the side (if necessary). I haven’t done that yet, however, because this crate is so large, they both fit comfortably together. I put his jumbo bed in the crate and he has taken to the crate without complaint, comfortably sleeping through the night and going in any time I leave the house. Even though this crate is so large, it isn’t obtrusive in my house. I put it behind the couch and draped a light blanket over it to give him a cozy safe feeling. The construction is excellent – it is heavy duty, yet not too heavy for me to move around. I love the bottom tray, which slides out easily for cleaning. The rubber feet protect my tile floors. The 48 would easily fit a Great Dane or very big Lab with champagne tastes.

I don’t know why Amazon is asking me to review features like “easy to fold” (it’s definitely not) or “easy to assemble” (again, not). It’s not very easy to assemble/fold because you have to really “work” the ends to get the sides up and over the bent arms/pieces that hold everything together as a crate. It’s not something I’d want to do twice a day. But how many times do you set up a dog crate? We have two of these now, one for our camper and one for our house. It’s the perfect size for our Havanese, and it’s nice that it has two doors, one in the end and one in the side. Both doors are easy to operate, and our dog loves his new sleeping “cave”. It’s not obvious from the photos but there’s a handle on top and a plastic panel on the bottom for any accidents. We use a crate pad with this to make a cozy bed.

I did see another review on a 42 inch kennel, which the owner used the whole divider to make a top loft for her cat.. in my case.. I am training a feral kitty – “Precious”.. she has been completely medically treated.. so … I purchased the 36 inch kennel & the divider was way too big .. the kitty would need to jump down in her food or litter box.. so my friend and I used her large bolt cutter & downsized the divider.. I did put the cut side facing out to the back of kennel.. then I used pipe foam to cover the edges.. & use heavy duty Gorilla duct tape to secure it and also on other rough edges…use a piece of cardboard ..for shelf cover & zip tied it to kennel.. This technique makes better use of the entire kennel.. I found that using cotton white hand towels & white microfiber towels the kitten moves them around to nest.. plus with white I can see if the kitten has any fleas..

I haven’t had any problems with the construction of this crate, but I don’t recommend a wire crate for all dogs.((Our large lab mix Lana was already a year old when my daughter brought her home, so Lana was pretty much full gown. Lana had not been trained as a puppy and she panicked when we tried to train her to go into this crate. We tried food & treat training to no avail, so we ended up getting a jumbo sized plastic crate, which is sturdier. We were able to train Lana to feel secure in her jumbo sized plastic crate, but now that she is fully trained, we have retired it because she behaves well in the house. However, …Lana still won’t go near this wire crate. My medium-sized dog Oliver loves it and knows that it is ‘his’ bed. Although he is trained, I leave it out for him because he likes it so much. The difference is that we brought Oliver home as a puppy and crate-trained him from the beginning, but we started with a smaller crate.))I only recommend a wire crate this large for a dog that has been crate trained in an appropriate sized wire crate since puppyhood. For a large or powerful dog and for a dog that may try to escape, I highly recommend a sturdy plastic crate over this.

Ineffective. My 30lb Boxer puppy shook the door and the top lock slid open. She then was able to push open the top and squeeze her way out, but her whole leg got caught in the top of the door. Thank GOD I have a puppy cam and was able to have someone go rescue her right away. Otherwise she very likely would have broken her leg. I do not recommend this crate since the locks do not work and your dog can escape or get hurt.

Upon assembly I noticed that the top bars were bent, which wasn’t that big a deal, but then I also noticed many sharp bar edges all over the cage that could easily cut my dogs mouth and/or paws. Also, there’s gaps on the bottom of the crate for the tray to slide in/out, and my dog immediately started trying to chew that and actually got his teeth (K9’s) stuck. He quickly panicked and I had to free him. Luckily, he wasn’t injured because I was home and just testing him out in it, but I can’t imagine what could have happened if I wasn’t there – he could have broke his jaw trying to free himself.Because of this incident I requested a return/refund and will be sticking to the plastic travel kennels. They’re more expensive, but much safer.

We bought the XL size for our Rottweiler puppy knowing he will eventually grow into it. The build quality of the crate is great and feels like it will last a long time. The set up was fairly straight forward and it has been easy to use. I would definitely recommended getting the two door version, it has been very helpful when getting our puppy in and out of the crate as well as for when we are cleaning. The crate is quite heavy so I probably wouldn’t recommend it if you need to move it often. Two things I think could be better:1. The divider is very secure once it is in place but is somewhat of a pain to remove and move when you need to expand the space. You basically have to bend the crate to remove and reinstall the divider.2. There are a lot of somewhat sharp edges around the two doors of the crate. Although our puppy has not cut himself yet, I’d feel better if these edges were smoothed out better or was somehow covered.

Best price around for this size crate. Overall would recommend but i must say that the way it comes in the box is stupid. My husband almost lost a finger trying to undo a latch that kept it folded. It was stuck on one of the panels & you could not unfold the crate without getting the latch off. He finally got some pliers & bent the part – risking breaking it- to unfold the crate. Luckily it bent back no problem. Our 65 lb puppy loves his new crate ! So much more room for activities ! Lol

I love the 2 door set up of this crate although it would have been better if the door would lift up instead of opening sideways (that is just my preference because it will save up space). I bought it for my then 8 week old yorkie and the 24″ is too big for him hence he used it to sleep and potty. I read somewhere that I should use the divider that came with it to make the space smaller so he will just think it is his sleeping place and not potty inside the crate. So far, it seems to work except when I don’t take him out on a longer period of time. His accidents are all in the early morning hours. by the time I get him out at 6:00am, he already peed. Other than that, I am quite happy with the purchase.

I bought this crate for my car. I’ve had three crates this year as my puppy has gotten bigger, this is the flimsiest and worst of the three which is a bummer because this one is his full grown sized crate. The latch is less secure than my other crates- I’ve included a comparison picture to show the difference. This one is just a straight latch, the better, sturdier latch is bent at the end.But the latch is a minor annoyance compared to my big complaint- it rattles constantly. Obviously this is a possibility when using a crate in a car, but please keep in mind I’ve used three crates (three different brands) in my car this year so I have a base for comparison. This crate drives me crazy it rattles so much. I put duct tape around the latches to try and cut down on the sound. I zip tied the unused latches so they can’t rattle. I bought gear ties and used those to tighten every spot I could find that might possibly rattle. NONE of these things were necessary on my other crates and even after all my efforts I’ve only been able to cut down on the rattling, not eliminate it. I really regret this purchase and wish I had spent a couple bucks more to buy *any* brand other than this one.

I was looking for an extra small crate for my 3 pound dachshund puppy. This crate is the perfect size for small dogs but unfortunately is not safe.1. The spaces between the bars are too wide. My puppy was able to fit his snout easily through the spaces, and since he’s teething, he would try to chew on the bars. He got his jaw stuck between the spaces several times, his little bottom teeth getting caught on the metal bars.2. The edges of this cage are sharp, which caused me to cut my finger when removing the bottom tray to clean it.3. The front entrance bottom frame of the crate is too high for a small puppy to climb out and again the spaces between the bars are too wide, which allows the puppies feet to get stuck as he tries to climb over the bottom frame to get out.4. The handle that comes with the crate does not fit properly or stay attached, and there is no way to safely carry the crate using the handle. The handle looks like it belongs to a larger size crate.I gave this product 2 stars because it is easy to assemble and it arrived quickly.

unfolded/assembled easily, door latches slide easy but secure.favorite thing that sets this design apart from others, is the clip used for when the crate is folded. It is a soft plastic and removable instead of a wire loop that is permanently fixed. my biggest pet peeve on other crates we’ve had (and nearly all out there) is that clip that is hardly ever needed (since these are used as fixed ‘beds’, and have only ever been folded when 1) moving houses 2) disposing at the end of the crates life – so next to never) is hanging out there right under the door where it can trip up a dog or get a foot caught in it. never have understood why designers would not have crates fold the other direction so the clip would be on the non-door side – or removable. This one being removable is perfect!

I have a recently-rescued dog that was “mislabeled” and though she looks like a Dachshund/Beagle, she has the behavior traits of a Jack Russell Terrier. Her energy level and excitability were through the roof! I couldn’t get her to sit quietly on the couch for more than 30 minutes, or even curl up and sleep in bed with me — Hubby and I took shifts sleeping while the other was awake to keep an eye on her. There were days it was so bad that I had to remove her from the house because her peeing and pooping on the floor were one thing, but her incessant barking and whimpering were too much for my bedridden husband to bear, even when she was in a larger crate with our other two dogs. We used to volunteer at the humane society and consider ourselves experienced with training challenging dogs, but for a while we seriously considered rehoming her. We knew, though, that if WE couldn’t handle her, the next family would likely be overwhelmed, and with her intelligence, that might really mess her up psychologically, and then she could end up in and out of homes for the rest of her life. So, we were desperate to find a way to not fail her…Why do I say this? Before we got the 24” crate, we put our new dog in with the two old guys in a 40” crate. The boys have slept together in the crate for years without issue, but we couldn’t leave her in with them, as she’d start whimpering within minutes…and her JRT tenacity meant she wouldn’t stop…for hours…and hours, until Hubby or I would stumble in, bleary-eyed and exhausted, and let her play with her toys at our feet, while we tried sleeping while sitting up. It was too much!…and then… The Crate(tm) arrived! *trumpet fanfare*I set up the crate in my room the first night, added a new blue MidWest bolster bed and a new fluffy blanket, then put our new girlie inside. She looked a bit unhappy, and with only a few inches clearance for her head, I feared I’d gotten too small a crate after all. Then the magic happened… she turned around several times, tossed the covers over herself, curled up, and I didn’t hear a peep out of her for over 9 hours! Every night since, she’s slept quietly, even over 12 hours just this morning. Hallelujah! Not only that, she goes outside first thing after we (finally) get up, and she goes potty OUTside! We’ve used four or five of these foldable crates for over 15 years and have been quite happy with the quality. This one has a few rough spots in the metal finish near the door, but nothing we can’t fix with a bit of sandpaper, and it’s worth it because this particular purchase has genuinely made a life or death difference for us and our new treasured family member! 🙂

This Midwest wire crate is comparable to other brands I’ve used: the same dual-slide-latches on the door, the same stays on the fold-down end panels. It appears to be solidly welded and the finish is good. The bottom tray is an average thickness and texture. The unit folds up and down easily and has a latch to keep it closed when folded. A snap-on handle is included. Also included was a removable divider panel for use in making the crate smaller for use with a smaller dog. We never use those for that purpose, but they do come in handy for patching when a dog decides to break out of a crate. The rubber rollers fell off too quickly. Overall, this is a decent crate at a good price suitable for a non-destructive dog. Especially if you don’t move it much. If you plan to move it around, wrap the rollers in electrical tape or black duct tape while they’re new and clean to keep them in place.

This crate is a great value for the average dog! I use these crates for my own working dogs over night sleeps.Even if one gets destroyed, they are afforable enough to replace.I’d recommend, squeezing ALL the clips closed on crate. Even the most docile dog could get this crate to collapse or open with little to no effort.

This cage is HUGE! Will update review with a photo to show how incredibly massive it is. We have a brother/sister duo Aussie/Collie mixes and I bought this for my little lady, she’s unfortunately stuck in her kennel for about 6 hrs a day so we wanted to get her a larger one for freedom to move around. WELL this one is soooooo huge that it’s almost too big when BOTH doggos are in it.The reviews saying there are sharp edges/dogs getting hurt REALLY confuse me.. this thing is solid and no pokey parts. It did come a little crushed but I used my boyfriends strength to bend the metal back into place.100% will be buying another (albeit smaller) one for normal use. This huge dog hotel will stay on the main level in case we have to store the dogs together quickly.More than worth the money.

I purchased this crate for my dog Bella who was recently diagnosed with IVDD and ordered to go on strict crate rest. She’d only been in a crate when she was a puppy and she’s a very obedient and well behaved dog, so we never saw much use for it. To offer her more comfort, we purchased a larger, spacious, netted pen for her. However, seeing that there was too much space for her to walk around and not enough to limit her mobility (she was jumping too much and could potentially hurt herself), we decided to purchase a smaller crate. Bella is a toy Chihuahua, weighing approximately 6 pounds. And the crate gives her just enough space to sleep, turn around, and eat and drink. Although it took her some time to re-acclimate (she threw tantrums at first), she quickly adapted to it. She even willingly enters her crate now and sleeps quite comfortably. The crate is also a cute color and the divider is a great added convenience.

I know, not five stars… and here’s the reason. I bought a dog crate 5 years ago (and I’m sorry I can’t find out where I bought it–If I locate my purchase order I’ll update) and thought this would be the same. It’s not. This one is not as good for these reasons: (1) The old crate had a single lock instead of two per door, and metal loops at the bottom that stuck inside when you shut the door, preventing the dog from pushing the door outward. When closed, it was tight, non-pushable and zero gaps. The new one has two locks, and there is a gap. I’m not worried about my pet, but knowing the quality of the other crate, this is sub-par. (2) The old crate had two hard plastic clips at the bottom that lock everything in place when folded. This one has but one metal one. (3) The metal! The old crate was heavier duty. This one is not any where near the quality. It’s good but becaue I had a quality one I can compare.

I bought this 36″ intermediate, single door crate (this exact listing) back in December 2016. I have used it for 2 different dogs with no problems at all. In fact, it as been in use every day since then and still looks new.I came here to buy a smaller one for our puppy and was shocked at the negative reviews. I don’t know if the quality has changed, or if people are just sticking a pup in there who isn’t crate trained at all and leaving. I could see that being a problem, as the dog panics and tries to escape.Like I said, I’ve been using the crate for almost 3 1/2 years and not once has anyone cut themselves or gotten stuck in any part of this crate, nor has either dog gotten the door open. When you push the latch through, you flip the little handle down and that locks it. I guess if you have an overzealous dog, they may be able to flail around and push the handle back up… Proper crate training is important. The crate needs to be a positive place for them. Not a punishment.I always start my puppies out with a plastic “pet taxi” type crate first, until they are comfortable and used to being crated, before switching to a wire crate when they outgrow that one. I have never had an issue but I could see where a dog might try harder to pry the wires apart because they see the seams. That being said, I need another crate so I’m going to order one. I hope the quality is still as good as the one we previously purchased.
RaeRae –
Not a great crate. It came folded and locked in on itself on one side–as in some of the hooks that secure the top when its unfolded were locked to the bottom. Took two people with now sore thumbs and a screwdriver to get unhooked. Once unfolded the hooks on top were bent in on themselves too tightly to secure the crate together so this became another thing to have to bend by hand in order for the crate to function. Even after I bent these out the fit was too tight and the handle broke instantly when trying to attach it. I also suspect that with there only being door locks on one side, and not also on the top like the one I had previously, there is going to be some escape issues in our future. Overall not worth the literal pain to unfold.

I have this crate in several sizes and love it. This is the largest one I own. I have a rescued Yorkie who was badly abused in her previous home and who has been incredibly hard to potty train. I initially put her in a much smaller Midwest Homes crate, but found that she will pee in it, even in her bed. That’s unusual for dogs, and a consequence of her abusive past. If I have to leave her at home for more than about 6 hours we use this huge crate because it gives her room to move around, room for her bed, and room for a potty pad for accidents. This is a HUGE crate. It’s heavy, and the weight means it’s not super portable, but it does fold easily, like all my other Midwest Homes crates. It’s very well put together and great quality. I also have this same crate in three other sizes for other dogs and purposes. All of them are great quality.
Fire & Ice –
Easy to set up because the wire is not a very heavy gauge, so it’s fairly easy to push the edges in to put them into the wire loops that hold them in place. I tried to find a crate that had door latches that turn up on the edges, so they can’t be opened unless the latch is lifted up at a 90 degree angle while sliding it, but could not. These straight latches can open on their own simply through vibration, such as if a dog paws at the door long enough. I am still crate-training my dog, but before she can be left on her own in it, I’m going to have to figure out how to secure the latches. I’d rather not have to stock up on zip-ties and have to cut them off every time I come back home after leaving her in her crate a little while. Oh, and the bottom of the crate arrived bent because it’s shipped in a cardboard box with no padding. I can’t remove the plastic pan, which is supposed to slide in and out. I didn’t bother trying to exchange it because I needed it ASAP, and a replacement might come even more bent up than this one.
Mind-Body-Spirit –
When I received this crate, the package was really beat up and looked like a return. I rescue cats and I needed the crate for a newcomer so I struggled to get it together which was much more difficult than the first one I purchased from this same company. The back of the crate was out of line and I couldn’t get the connector where it belonged. Well, kitty was rehomed, yea, and I need to get this giant thing out of the living room. I knew how it should go, but I still watched a video on youtube to make sure. I can tell you that it is absolutely impossible for a strong 5;8″ woman to get this front section separated from the rest of the structure and thus to fold the thing down. This is very frustrating as I live alone in a small place and this cage as it is will take up all the floor space in my largest bedroom closet. I bought this one of the many available because of the rolling wheels which I do like. But being able to collapse something this large is an essential part of the process. I encourage anyone who isn’t a 6′ bodybuilder with a lot of patience to buy another brand. They are all within a few dollars of each other, so get one that collapses easily or at all.

I love these crates! I have ordered two for my miniature dachshund puppy. When we got her last year (9wks), she was 3.5 lbs and we got the 18″ crate, which was a perfect size for her. It really made a difference with her potty training and we would leave it open during the day so she could go in as she pleased. She often chose to sleep in her crate over in bed with us when she got older. I was able to fold up her crate and store it in my 50lb-max large black suitcase, alongside the tray insert and several clothes + toys, when I flew with my dog on a plane to visit family for Christmas. We recently bought the 24″ crate with divider for her since she is larger now (10.5lbs, 14 months) and she was having some trouble turning around in the smaller crate (it was a good height, but not quite wide enough for her long wiener-dog body). The 24″ crate is a bit too big for her and harder to transport than the smaller one. I wish I had gotten the 22″ crate to begin with – we could have used the divider at the beginning and taken it out now she is older. All things considered, I would recommend this brand of dog crates to anyone with a dog or puppy!

I got this used for a great price! Exactly as expected. Easy to fold up, quite large, and very durable!Alot of complaints with this product was possible sharp spots… I’ve noticed a few points of concern, but they are fairly dull, and would require a decent amount of pressure to cause any cuts. Some people complained about the latches just being a slide, but with the bend in the handle, it is made to catch the cage wall and prevent the handle from being slide while in the down position! Unless your dog is majorly aggressive and pouncing the doors with all their mite, then I would not be concerned about my dog getting out. Digging at the door won’t knock it open!I would say that the divider is not very useful if you bought an aftermarket bed that is higher than 1″.

I was excited to get the 24″ crate with divider for my 4 lb dachshund pup. It came on time and comes already set up and you can place the top plastic handle wherever you like. The price is great and it feels exactly the same as the 36″ crate I got at petsmart for over $60. So it starts or at 5 stars. When I first pop up the sides I noticed that the oval shaped metal by the front door isn’t a closed loop and it’s sharp. I’m going to put something to protect my dog on it but there shouldn’t be any sharp metal on a product made for puppies and dogs. That’s a given. (Pic 3&4) So 1 star down.My second concern is that the divider is a total pain to put on and off and blocks use of side door which would be nice to have so I can let him go in and out of his pen by himself. (See last 2 photos.) granted I’m a small lady, but I’m a power yoga teacher and somehow I’m still not strong enough to pull the bars off without a big production. That is 2 stars down.I showed the ghetto set up, his actual IRIS play pen to attach will be here in 2 days.Pros- came fast- inexpensive compared to pet store crate- sturdy plastic bottom- comes assembledCons- very sharp edges on front- cannot use side door with divider- divider is VERY hard to remove

I purchased the 18 inch version of this crate and find it to be practically identical to the 18 inch one I purchased from Petco 8 years ago. I was at Petco the other day, and saw the model I bought there 8 years ago now sells for 40 bucks, more than twice the price of this one from Amazon. as far as sharp edges, misshaped or bent/broken parts, there were none to speak of. The 8 year old crate has a few areas that could be considered a little rough. My 2 dogs, both adult Chihuahuas, love sleeping in their crates as they have since puppy-hood. I bought a new pad for the crate at the store, and it cost more than this crate from Amazon.

Bought this for my 10 week old corgi pup with the intention of using it until he grows into his adult weight and size. I liked that it had a divider so it can grow with him. I was very concerned about what size crate to get for crate training, since I didn’t want it to be too large or he’ll go to the bathroom in it. I do regret buying such a large crate (36in). I purchased this size on the estimated size of an adult corgi. I regret getting such a large size because it is taking up my entire living room and it is an eyesore. For a corgi, he won’t use the entire height of the crate, currently he stands to about 1/3 of the crate’s height. I don’t expect him to use this crate as an adult when he is fully potty trained, so I wish I had bought a smaller crate to use while potty training and so it wouldn’t take up so much space in my living room. Do not let your dog wear a dollar and especially with a dog tag on it while in the crate, the collar/dog tag will get caught on the wires and the dog will get stuck or even choke. The crate was not too difficult to set up, but the divider is a struggle to move/put in each time. I don’t know why I had to buy the crate with 2 doors, I think I could’ve sufficed with just 1 door. I’ve had to fold it and move it once now and it was a pain in the butt, I hope I don’t have to do it again, and if I do it will be when I sell this crate.

I downsized our giant XL crate from our Lab to accommodate my daughter’s Mini Golden Doodle. At full size, she is only about ten pounds. She spends minimal time in the crate and it’s basically used for a brief rest time or she would be on the go constantly, It’s nice because it gives her a safe and comfortable place to rest without being stressed. I chose the MidWest Brand for it’s two door enclosure. I can turn it either way depending on the space. When she isn’t visiting, I like it horizontal so it’s less obtrusive. When she is here, either way is fine with me!The crate is all but assembled out of the box. Unfold it and put the sides up. Be sure to assemble correctly and make sure the sides are secure. Once it is done, which takes all of two minutes, simply give it a pull and look to be sure it’s done right. It will not give or pull apart at all.I have not found any issues with the crate at all. This is a mellow pup who was previously crate trained and has zero anxiety. She doesn’t try to get out. She views her crate as her bedroom and her safe space to nap!

I am not a fan of paper or crate training but then I have not had a puppy in the house for some 15 years until now. Tori is a great wire hair terrier but she is a terrier. Into everything and annoying my ten year old Jack Russell Terrier to boot. There are times when I cannot take them with me and knowing how inquisitive Tori is this will be a great answer. They also have a video on their website as to how to best use the crate for training. I got the pad bed for this as well which I will review separately. It took me all of 3 minutes to set this up. Well, there is one clip on the side I have yet to figure out! To say this is extremely well made is understatement. For the price I was more than impressed. And it comes with a handle not shown in the pictures so that is good to know. Pictures show Tori exploring the crate once it was set up. Of course she went in to retrieve her toys and I will be leaving door open for her. The model I got has two doors which may prove useful. If you are looking for a puppy crate this is definitely worth considering. It has a pan for easy cleaning and a divider if you have a very small puppy. Mine is 6 months so do not need the divider but put it and instructions underneath the pan for future reference. And this has feet on it in case you are using on hardwood floor.

The kennel was supposed to be arrived on Thursday but somehow it got delayed so I finally received it the following Monday. When I opened the box what I noticed right away is how thick the metal space bars are which is good as I know it is strong enough to handle my 10 lb morkie Max. He is very smart and tends to be destructive when he gets bored. I decided to buy this kennel for him after he somehow managed to chew a hole on his plastic kennel and kept on escaping. With this new metal kennel, it looks like it should be able to handle my dog. Overall, I really like it. It’s sturdy and I like the rollers on the bottom of the kennel so it acted like a wheel and I’m able to easily move it from one room to the next. I also like that there is a handle that comes with this kneel that you could attached to the top of the cage for carrying. That was a nice touch .The only complaint I have is how hard it is at least for me to set it up. I spent an hour trying to figure out how to pull up the front door and back panel of the kennel from the inside of the kennel to be up. Supposedly there was are hooks that hold these kennel panels down and it is not as easily identify so it made it hard to figure out how to pull up the panels. Beside this, I love it. I haven’t fold the kennel so I don’t know how easy it would be to collapse it for storage.

The overall construction quality is good with some imperfections. The gap between the door and the cage is pretty big. There’s also some bends along the corner of the cage and makes it not symmetrical. It doesn’t affect the overall functionality of the cage, but I’m surprised to see such imperfections. The big gaps is probably the biggest concern of you have a little pup like I do as their paws can easily get stuck in between the door. It’s easy to fold and carry around although I do wish they added more handle on the front and back side of the cage for carrying purposes. Other cages that I’ve tried had handles and it makes it so mucb easier to transport without folding. The dual door is great and is proven to be useful from time to time.Overall, it’s a great cage especially for the price.

Overall, it is a nice cage. I used it as an addition to a larger cage. This cage housed the litter box. No problems except I noticed the doors could use a second latch due to their large size. Each door has one latch situated in the middle. Don’t get me wrong — the large door size was good. For one thing, the side door enabled me to get the medium-sized litter box in/out. Also, the other/end door was big enough to fit well against the side door of a larger metal cage (both cages’ doors were open and wired together to create a passageway from one to the other). I did not have a cat inside that was desperate enough to try to push around the doors to get out; but, if I did have such a cat, I would think it necessary to use a clip at the top and/or bottom of this cage’s doors to discourage escape attempts. Just a thought.

I never take the time to review products because I like what I buy EXCEPT for this crate… we have a LOVE and HATE relationship – If you plan on getting it, careful, you will get SCRATCHED. Literally. I have scratches all over my hand because it unfortunately has SHARP edges. Nevertheless, the mechanics of the crate are superb. So if you are going to get it, make sure you tape the bottom of the doggie entrance AND make sure your puppy’s head is protected from the upper edge of the doogie door frame. I have a pocket of bandaids and neosporin in my bag – Why, because I love the crate but boy have I scratched myself gazillion times. So please be careful, especially if you have little kids. Great crate. Note for makers: you guys have got to figure out those sharp edges… they can also hurt the puppy.

My crate came bent and hard to open alone. I actually had to wait until my dad and brother came from out of state to help set up my crate. It was so bent that it wouldn’t unfold so my family had to apply pressure to the crate to pop it into place with the help of a screwdriver to avoid getting their fingers pinched. After getting it up I haven’t tried taking it down because I don’t want to deal with maybe not getting it back up again. I like the crate overall it just came bent which isn’t cool because it’s hard to manage with folding and unfolding the crate which I haven’t done because I’m nervous. It took a while for me to compose this review because I’m still pretty pissed about the integrity of the Crate’s condition after spending 90 bucks for it, but I digress. It’s okay if you don’t get a bent crate!Midwest Homes please handle your products with care! – Side comment I add with an eye roll!

I bought this crate for our GSD/Border Collie pup. She is only 16 weeks now and with the divider panel this is working great, as she grows of course we will remove the divider. She’s really taking a liking to her new “den” pretty quick. This crate is pretty good but it came with some flaws… design flaw would be how troublesome the divider panel is to install. It only takes a few minutes to set up the crate as it comes mostly assembled, just folded up. But the divider panel was a pain to put in place correctly although I think any may be. It’s a pain because it has a series of hooks to latch onto the vertical wall wires, It only fits in certain spots due to distance between hooks vs the horizontal wall wires and then you must pull the wall in to hook it. More concerning is that 2 different wires on the unit I recieved are bent. Not enough to cause issue or much concern but a new product shouldn’t come with such an issue. October 7, 2020 – UPDATE:I originally bought and reviewed this product in 2018 which is the above review. I am updating because I have since ordered a second unit. The original lasted us over 2 years but my dog began to be able to break out around the 2 year mark of use. It also became quite rusted despite being indoors. The pics I have added are not of the original.. they are of the new (second) unit I recently bought. I just set it up and the issue is shown in the pictures. There is rust on this brand new product. That’s not okay. It won’t affect the functionality so I’m not to concerned however I am peeved. Again, a new product shouldn’t have such an issue.Still a decent product for the price and lasts pretty well for containing an anxiety ridden pet.

We had three tiny kittens dumped in our yard so we fostered them. When it came time to introduce them to the other cats in the house so they could get socialization, we needed a crate. This worked well and the divider was able to work horizontally as a platform, though doing that removes the ability to use the side door. It allowed us to have a litter box in the cage with food and water and a separate place for the kittens to sleep. We also used a sheet of fleece to make a hammock so they had two comfy areas to sleep in. It folds up pretty compact and stores in the closet now that we don’t need it. The plastic tray is nice, it kept the litter contained and it was easy to wash.

Super high quality, good instructions, nice design.I also go the soft nylon dog black cover for it and just leave the front open, so Sammy still gets airflow, but has a nice secure dark den / doggy-cave to chill out in.Since I live in a small SF apartment, I really wanted a decent hard top, so I can use it also as a table. If you just set stuff on the top, even near edges, it tends to sag, and this also can slightly mess up the latches on the end. I know Amazon sells fancier “furniture quality” crates, which is a nice idea, but a bit pricey. So I found the perfect size solid table top, sold with no legs (which you don’t need, and it works perfectly, just a little overhang, which is what you’d want. On Amazon too – Flash Furniture 30” x 42” Rectangular Table Top with Black or Mahogany Reversible L… https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009RTEQG4/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apip_xizh6LzNjaIr4The crate (2nd largest, for a big Lab mix), and black nylon cover, and this solid top let the floor space do double duty, as nice crate, and nice big table. The tabletop is finished on both sides, so you can choose black or wood-grain. OK, not as fancy as the “furniture-class crates”, but way less expensive, pragmatic, and still looks kinda high-tech to my eyes, certain NOT cheap/shabby looking. If you have a modern or industrial decor, this will fit right in. And again, you can flip the tabletop over, and choose various colors for the soft nylon cover, for the look you want.

We recently got a puppy and wanted to use a crate – he had been raised in one by the breeder and he likes it. Unfortunately, this is not a good crate overall. It’s well made and sets up easy enough. First problem I encountered though was getting the frame to ‘set’ right with the sides sitting correctly. It uses rolled metal sleeves to connect the frame parts and if you so much as jostle the crate, the sides are out of alignment. I’m sure in the long run this wouldn’t matter, but it doesn’t speak to a well developed product. The next and bigger issue is the divider. I am a larger man with big and strong hands. The amount of hand strength required to move or set the divider is very high. Obviously you’re working at an odd angle as you’re putting up a wall inside a cage, but they could have made it spring loaded or something else. It’d be worth the extra price. If you won’t be using the divider because you don’t like it or your dog is fully grown, ignore this but it was a selling point for us having a growing dog.Overall, it’s a basic crate. Even with the price being right, I’ll spend more on a brand I can utilize better and has a better fit/finish.

I ordered this kennel to house my two foster dogs who are both under 10 lbs. I bought the 30 inch with the divider, and it has been plenty big enough for them. They are both able to turn around comfortably and sprawl out on all fours if needed, and there is still a little more room. I took the divider out before I let them go in it, so I don’t know how well using that would go. I have been using this kennel for them for about 5-6 weeks now.Pros:-Arrived right on time. Important since my fosters needed a kennel to stay in fast. They are chewers and markers and soon showed that they could not stay in the room with a baby gate for long unsupervised. They quickly peed all over the bed and on the floor, and also started chewing on the wall and door frame. The kennel helps them stay out of trouble when I can’t be home or can’t watch them while they run around the house. It has prevent more damage to my walls.-Really, really great for when you can’t supervise your pets. Saved me tons of time by preventing them from marking as much or soiling bedding on my bed from them jumping on it and peeing everywhere. I don’t know why they pee on bedding, but they do. The first time they peed on my bed, I spent hours washing everything and spraying my mattress with white vinegar/water/baking soda mixture to remove stains+drying the mattress. I did not want to repeat that, so the kennel helps in those moments I can’t watch them to ensure they stay off the bed.-Easy slide single latch for quick opening. I’ve never had an issue with them getting it open.-Latch on bottom in front to hold kennel tray into place. Prevents it from sliding out during travel or use.-Easy to clean. I can wipe off accidents, dirt, or throw up easily with a cloth. Then I just spray with some vinegar and water to safely disinfect. Also dries fairly quickly.-Folds up easily for travel. Also slides well into back seat and opens back up easily in car to transport dogs in kennel. Has been extremely useful for this purpose, since again, my fosters are chewers and will chew on seat belts (potentially costing unnecessary money to repair), and their car harnesses. I actually decided to stop using harnesses for them, and just keep them in the kennel, because they kept trying to chew the harnesses off. I was concerned they would get loose in the car and be unsafe walking around unrestrained, or as the littler one likes to do, hop into my lap and down onto the floor around my feet (dangerous when driving). Using this kennel eliminated that problem and gave me peace of mind while driving. A huge beneficial factor. Not only that, but I don’t have to keep buying new harnesses because of them chewing them off. Another save of money.-Very affordable. At only $26 dollars for a $30 inch, this was a huge deciding factor in me getting this brand of kennel. For those who foster, this is a huge relief, because rehabilitating animals is not cheap.Cons:-I really only have one, and that the sharp edges in some places on the kennel. There are spots where the metal bars are welded together and they are not rounded down. This leaves sharp edges with the potential to leave cuts. I was closing the kennel one day and one of the sharp points actually gave me a little cut on my hand. Nothing major, but a little sting. I’ve heard reviews where dogs trying to nose or paw out of the kennel have gotten cut up by these sharp points. This is a very significant concern and a disappointing issue to have on an otherwise great product. The company should address this and ensure all future manufactured products have sanded down these rough points on the bars to ensure the safety of the animals and their handlers/pet parents. They could also provide information to previous customers about how to safely round off these points on products already purchased. For me it has not been a huge issue because my foster dogs don’t attempt to nose or paw the cage very much, but it was alarming when my hand was cut a little while closing the kennel one day. I recommend inspecting the entire kennel before use and safely sanding down all the sharp points, or having someone else who knows how to do it safely sand it down for you. Because of this issue, I must give 4 stars instead of 5. Otherwise very good product!Despite the rough edges, I would buy again, including in larger sizes for use with other dogs, but would look into sanding down the rough points. This has just been extremely helpful and affordable for me as a foster and saved me so much money and stress by preventing issues that can occur from animals. I would recommend.UPDATE 8/16/17I recently ordered another of this size of kennel. It’s clear they changed the texturing on the kennel pan, but I don’t mind that. I’m having a significant problem setting up and breaking down the new kennel though; the alignment seems to be off or something when I try to latch the different parts together or take them apart. We actually have to lodge a key between the parts to pry them apart without smooshing our fingers. Not sure what happened with this item compared to the first one. Never had problems setting up our first kennel like this. Not happy with the issue, but it’s an inexpensive kennel, which we like. I’m not going to dock any stars because it’s still a good deal and we like the product in general.

This crate is everything it states itself to be and more. However, I found out today that it, and most other wire crates I’m seeing on the market, has a danger with the door. My pup was playing by it today while the door was open, and he ended up with his head trapped beneath the door. I put a towel/blanket under the door thinking that would resolve it but instead my pup just wants to play with the towel/blanket to pull it out. Unfortunately it’s passed the time I can return it. But still had to order another Kennel where my puppy would be save so I got the one with the “garage door” which I HIGHLY recommend over this double door!!!!!!!!! Even if most other manufactures have the same “flaw” I wish there was a way to make it safer. This is why I rated it a 1 star, because it could have really hurt my puppy if I wasn’t right there when it happened.

I only have a 5# puppy and this works well to keep him in for sleeping at night and when we leave him at home alone. He can’t get out. Like that it folds up.Wish it had 2 bolt latches. You will definitely need two if you have a larger anxious pup trying to get out. I would be afraid of him getting his head and neck stuck at the bottom or top of the door. Also wish it latched together when folded that keeps it together. What comes with it falls off. And no handle to carry it.Finally, would love if it had a top or side opening also. Gives more versatility when placing it in a hotel room or moving it around at home for placement. All in all it works fine for my pup who at 5# is full grown. He is much less anxious when he is in this crate and we leave him alone.

I like having a 2 door with a divider. The 2 doors makes it more open, so dogs experiencing a new environment or just starting crate training will take to it because of its openness. The adjustable divider is essential for properly crate training your dog. This is one of the biggest available on the market. We have a German Shepherd so this worked out very nicely. We crate trained him in it with the divider and once he was potty trained, we let him have free roam of the entire crate. This now sits in our bedroom and I covered the top and 1 side so it looks a little like a den, so it’s his personal space that no one can interrupt. He loves it! He also is a very calm and easy going dog and never fought being in a crate, so I can’t comment on whether it can prevent a full grown dog from escaping. My guess is many smart dogs may find ways to Houdini themselves out of a crate. The plastic tray slides out easily and cleans easily with a soapy sponge and can be rinsed off with a hose. Easy to fold up and transport. Takes up very little space when folded up.I’ve recommended this crate to many new dog owners and they all have been happy with it.

This crate is pretty nice, especially for the price. The tray is a nice quality, removable, and easy to clean. Setup is very easy and takes less than 2 minutes. The latch or the doors is okay but my puppy is already working on how to open it. That will happen soon. This crate also has a divider but I don’t fine it very helpful. Although there are two doors, one in the front and one on the side, the divider is blocks the side door so there’s not enough room to get in and out, or barely enough. In another month, he won’t be able to squeeze through. I wonder if the door was put on the wrong end. I didn’t think to check that since it’s preassembled. That would make more sense. If I can switch the ends and put the front door on the larger end, that will solve the blocked door problem and I’ll increase to 5 stars and update this review, even though that should have been caught in quality control.

I’ve crated high-energy dogs for over 30 years now (Alaskan Husky, Siberian Husky, Weimaraner, Samoyed, Belgian Malinois) with these crates. The construction is sturdy and can be reinforced for less than $10 for items at a hardware store, but this isn’t necessary. If you have a dog that will not be contained, this crate can get bent / ruined and a much more expensive option may be the way to go. Two doors is absolutely helpful (especially when using multiple crates for auto transport in an SUV or an event). A smart dog can escape, so a simple carabiner or strap will prevent this. Hope this helps!

For the price, this thing is good value. our now 7 month old doberman has learned how to rattle this thing, in order to make enough noise to wake us up. Taping cardboard to the bottom of the plastic pan and sliding it back in takes care of one of the greatest noise factors. The other involves tightening the connections between the various parts via twisting cable at various points. I haven’t done that part yet as she only pulls the rattling trick every once in a while (we love that little PITA). A great buy on a budget that will grow with your dog. After raising a top bunk buy a couple inches in our bunk house travel trailer, this fits perfect under it.

I love that it folds and is portable – yet still sturdy- the only flaw is if u used to regularly transport your animal – it can manipulate the metal to make it difficult to get the tray in the bottom. I have had this for less than a month and do not carry the puppies in the crate. It is for crate training and during the Holiday we traveled frequently. And had two (2-4 month old puppies weighing about 12-20 lbs in there it did shift and now it makes utilizing certain parts difficult – the bottom crate latch on the side door – the hatch for the tray at the bottom.

Our English Cream, Sailor, outgrew the crate that his breeder gave us. We searched as many reviews as we could find (including and beyond Amazon) and found that the NYT WireCutter site recommended the Amazon Basics crate. However, as far as we can tell that item no longer exists. So, we decided upon the iCrate Large Breed model.Assembly is a snap overlooking the fact that the included directions are all but useless especially Step 3. Fortunately, YouTube had numerous instructional videos. The setup process took less the 10 minutes not including watching the video.Once assembled we were well-pleased by the quality and safety of this crate. We found no sharp edges. The fit-n-finish is at a very high level. The iCrate is sturdy which inspires confidence. The iCrate comes with a spacer screen which we did not need. From our cursory examination of the spacer screen it is equally easy to install and of the same high quality as the rest of the iCrate.

I bought two. They’re great crates… a couple demonstrations of positive reinforcement (treats for entering and laying down), and my six week old Aussies took to them immediately. They love having their own “personal space.” Four weeks later and they’re excited for the “bedtime!” Command… they know it’s time for a tasty treat in their private suite!Based on other reviews, I did take the time to use a cordless dremel to dull the “cut” ends of the wire-bends at the hinges down. Took about three minutes per crate, and probably wasn’t even necessary. But hey, we’ll do anything to keep our little dawgs safe, right? If you want to do the same but don’t own many powertools, I’d suspect even a fingernail file or a piece of sandpaper would be enough to do the job… the metal is fairly soft. Again, though, i don’t think it’s a big deal unless your pup is desperate to escape… in which case you’ve probably got extra work to do, anyways. One of the crates was damaged during shipping (looked like someone stepped on it and crimped a couple panels), but we just bent it back into rough shape. The packaging could maybe be a little tougher. I can’t speak to the seller’s handling of such an issue, though. We were able to manipulate the relatively soft metal back into serviceable condition with a set of of household pliers feomThe kitchen toolkit. No big deal.Starting to make use of the adjustable divider as our little guys grow. They’re certainly easy enough to adjust, yet sturdy enough the dawgs can’t dislodge them. Door latches do their job well. Pan is easy to remove for cleaning. All in all, this crate does its job safely and reliably for a reasonable price! We’re happy!

I got this to crate-train my new mini Dachshund puppy, and it was great because I could both confine him and at the same time have a perfectly clear view inside from all directions – no more guesswork what he’s doing inside! It was easy to assemble except that one of the panels was slightly bent, so it took some literal banging into shape/place to force it to snap into place. Now both dogs have taken to the safety of the cage and I find them sleeping together inside 🙂 I have never had to remove the bottom pan to clean, tbh it looks like it’d be quite a wrestle to take out of the cage so if you anticipate a lot of cleanup – like daily or multiple times daily – keep that in mind.

I bought the 18 inch single door version of this for my Pomeranian puppy. This is a very sturdy crate with a removable tray for easy cleaning. It is also easy to fold down and move around the house.Unfortunately the edges on the outside of the crate are sharp. I’ve cut myself many times reaching in to pull out my puppy. Also, the lock latch is a strait one instead of the “L” shaped latch so if you’ve got a determined puppy they could fairly easily open their crate from the inside!I’ve never had a problem with my puppy in his crate, but my boy never goes in it unless it’s nap time, bedtime, or he’s being monitored. And always in a puppy proofed room just in case!

This is the perfect size for travel for a large dog, by large I mean between 40-90 pounds, they have just enough room to lay flat out or get up & turn around. They dont have enough room to pace or get over excited. We own several size kennels & all of our dogs have larger crates/kennels for home but we got this one for when we wanted to travel & take a dog with us & it is perfect, fits great in a truck or SUV & still have room for luggage.
