I purchased this gate and placed it in the doorway at the bottom of my stairs to keep my dog in the main level and only on the lower walk-out level of my home if I wanted him to. I’ve only owned it a few months and yesterday when I opened it a spring popped out and the entire door just fell off completely! I cannot even see how it could be fixed, this is clearly a manufacturing flaw and according to Amazon the “window” to return/replace this item is passed….so, I’m stuck with a broken gate that now doesn’t even serve the function it was intended for in my home. Lesson learned – only purchase items like this from local, reputable companies like Walmart, Target or Kohl’s who allow you to return items with the receipt of purchase without a hassle!

These gates were nice. Sturdy, looked good, swing both ways, and self close. I needed tall gates for my dog who can jump the smaller gates. These were a good height, but the thicker side bars on either side lined up exactly where my door knob. This prevented me from being able to close the door unfortunately. Maybe it would work on a wider door/doorway, but for me I had to return them. :/

I purchased 3 of the Midwest Homes for Pets Steel Gates for my front yard. They are strong, sturdy and really look and work amazing. Two openings are 28″ and the front entrance is 38″. They are so easy to install and close automatically. Perfect as you can see. Buy them. They are very well made.

This gate is sturdy, beautiful, and the company is wonderful with great customer service. They emailed me when I had difficulty removing a piece to insert the extension with other suggestions. The gate looks great on my deck to keep my dog contained. I would buy this again and definitely support this company again simply because of the support they offered.

This gate is used to provide my guest bedroom the option of leaving the gate up but still able to close the door. At first I thought the gate was warped however after installing and re-reading the instructions when the top part of the gate is tightened down the top closer will latch. I actually left the top part open a bit as I only needed to lift to open as my dog will not mess with the gate anyway.

Got it to keep my dogs out of the living room, when people are running in and out of the front door. It’s easy to use, I have issues with my hands and it’s no problem to open and close.

I just combined my family of two dogs and two cats and it is a learning experience for the animals. This gate Is just the right size where my small dogs cannot jump over the gate and the cats don’t even bother. They can see each other through the gate. It’s very easy to install and the gate opens in and out which is a very nice feature

Unfortunately for some reason my cat decided to start using my bedroom as a urinal. This gate has worked great at keeping him out. Cat has never tried to jump over it ( enough height?). Gate locks nicely. It can be screwed in for greater sturdiness (dog?) – but for a cat it is not necessary.
Jason –
High quality, nice finish, great height, overall perfect for my application. Liked it so much that I ordered another. Unfortunately, the second gate was a few dollars more expensive, but the extra proved to be worth it to me. The gate itself is spring loaded. I have not yet decided whether or not this is a good thing. There are times that I want to close it behind me, and there are times when it would be more convenient for it to stand open freely. I solved this by setting a catch system in place on the wall to hold the door should I need it to remain open.

Well designed, sturdy. Installed 3 on the first floor of our townhouse to keep our 3 month old Labrador from getting into rooms unsupervised (think bulkheads on a ship to contain the damage to one area at a time!)They should market different length spindles so that they can be adapted to fit a space that may be wider at the top than the bottom, but they can be found here:https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B079NTQ76F/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

We love this walk through pet gate. It works well to keep our dog where we want him, especially when opening doors to the outside. Cats do not fit through the bars, though young healthy cats can jump it if they want to.

This gate is totally awesome! Sturdy, easy to install and the gate swings either way and is spring loaded to close behind you! Keeps our fur babies out of one of our guest rooms. And quite decorative! Love it!

We needed a gate to keep our dogs contained but where we can see them in the room with the dog door. It’s pretty easy to open, solid enough for our needs and we’re happy with it.

I bought a baby gate (for my dog) first, but it stunk. This one keeps a 64 lb dog where he belongs. A+

The gate would look nice but it is too small for the 32 inch stair opening. My husband has had to add wood beams on the deck to allow it to fit. He has spent hours on this so that we could use the gate. I wanted to send it back but he threw the box away.

I have had several pet gates around my home, This is my favorite to date. I love the way this has an automatic closure – great if you have your hands full, maybe would be even better if it could be held open at 90 degrees if required. However, my favorite feature is that it opens both ways, with my previous gates I had to choose which way the gate opened, not always convenient. It has a clean look, it’s sturdy and keeps my pack of fur babies exactly where I want them to be.
ET500 –
I can see how some people think it’s broken out of the box but if you follow the instructions you should have no trouble. I didn’t screw it to the wall and it’s a pretty tight fit. I don’t have large dogs or kids so I can’t attest to how well it would work for that. I wanted it for a cat but it turns out this particular cat is more agile than I gave him credit for. Maybe it will work better on the other cats I will foster in the future.
D. Winn –
The space I have to make this gate work is 37″. The product says 38″ The extension bars are not long enough to make this get proper tension. It might work for you if your passageway is less than 37″, but be wary. I’m very disappointed. This was a big waste of time and money.

This was such a hard gate to install. The video makes it look easy but if your walls are not completely leveled.. you will never install it correctly. The top I wouldn’t not adjust the rings due to it having a tight fit. The bottom ones I was able to tighten equally but since I couldn’t tighten the top, the gate will not close all the way at the top lock. Luckily, the bottom lock shuts and makes the gate unable to open but I now have a 1 inch opening at the top because it will not go together.

Got this gate to put in my doorway to stop my dog from going downstairs and eating the cat turds out of the litter box. Took a little figuring out to know if I needed the extensions or not for the doorway. But I got it figured out. If you have a big dog, they may be able to push the top of the gate as the top will be a little looser than the bottom. you need it to be looser so you can open the gate properly. Im happy.

I love this gate. I purchased a different one first and it just got to be a bit cumbersome (Regalo Easy Step Walk Thru Gate, White) to open and close. We use it for our puppy and it’s easy for everyone in the family to use it! I left the top connection loose so it doesn’t lock on top. That way — you simply lift the doorway up and push or pull to open it. Takes a little less time and it contains our 12 week old puppy just the same! And it’s not an eyesore….love that it came in a dark color! Highly recommend!!

We bought this when we got our new puppy. This gate is rock solid. Once mounted it may as well be a part of the house. I did add 2 additional wide mounting blocks that take up a little extra space due to an extra wide hallway. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a long term pet or child gate. The only issue is it squeeks a bit when opening.
M. Long –
This is by far the best gate I have come across. Easy to open closes by itself. And sturdy enough to withstand my grandkids,(teenagers) and my 40 lb shepherd puppy. Love love it,Update: this is my second purchase. The first one has been broken. It lasted longer than I thought it would. This is a good gate. I ordered a black one this time. Dog is now not jumping on it as she can open it if it’s not latched tight!
Amazon Customer –
It keeps our new dog off the carpet until she is house broken. It was very easy to install. It helped to have a second person but one person can easily put it up. If you have a big dog or kid that jumps or climbs I highly suggest you install the pieces that screw into the wood. Our dog does not jump on it but the every day use and people trying to figure out how to slide the lever and pull the gate up a bit to open it we have seen slight movement. I love that it swings shuts and locks when you go through.

Took a lot of searching to find this but it was exactly what I was looking for the match our stairs and perfect height for our bannister.

The quality and appearance of the gate is excellent. Once mounted properly (which is not easily done alone”), the swing action of the gate works extremely well. The problem is that I apparently cannot get the bottom secure enough to stay put. The bottom is easily knocked loose from the door frame which requires frequent re-sets. I’ve just gotten into the habit of kicking the bottom back in every time I open it up.
Amazon Customer –
This has stood up against the wear and tear of my dogs. I really enjoy that it closes itself behind me. It does make a distinct sound so if you are looking for the latch to be quiet this is not for you. Since I I just using it for dogs it makes no difference to me. The instructions for assemble were a bit confusing at first but I eventually figured it out.
Nancy McCallister –
After I finally got it installed and used it for about a week I really regretted buying this gate. It does ‘t stay aligned in the doorway and the open/close is not easy to use. I really wish I had never ordered this.
D. GerstenfeldD. Gerstenfeld –
This was sold by Amazon and listed as new, however the factory installed zip ties intended to help with installation had been severed (see attached pic), the screw for the base latch was stripped, and the coating on a couple of the metal slats was scratched, so I’m not pleased to have paid a new price for a used product. The product itself seems decent, with the exception of a couple of plastic parts that seem like they could easily fail within the first 6 months. I will update this review if anything fails or outperforms my expectations in the coming months.

I like this gate a lot. I had been using one of the white wood/white plastic baby gates but occasionally my dog would be able to push it down. Once I put this gate in those problems were fixed. The only thing I don’t like is that the gate swings shut every time it’s opened which makes leaving it up a problem for those times when you don’t want the gate shut. I simply tied black parachute cord to it (can hardly see it) and hold it open by looping the parachute cord to a hook I have on the wall.
Sue –
This gate is the only thing that will keep my 80 lb German Shepard at bay. We have tried a lot of other gates to keep our dogs out of our bedroom. This is the only one that has reliably withstood our big dog trying to push it down and get through. We’ve had it for 6 months now or daily use and abuse from the dogs and have had zero issues. Definitely worth the money, especially if you have a stubborn dog.

I got this to keep the animals out from part of the house, and it works great. Super sturdy and tall enough that the cats don’t feel like jumping over it. It seems like it will last a long time and easy to open and close dozens of times a day.
Robert Martin –
The gate had been used or at least someone tried to put it together and damaged the frame. When I tried to put it to gether I had to do the best I could with what it was because I needed it right away. So it does come loose sometimes and I have to try to fix it again. If this is the standard for like new used I will never purchase anything used on Amazon again.
SusanS –
It’s tall enough to prevent large dog from jumping it, or knocking it down. Quickly latches behind you. Swings both directions. BUT.. as a shorter person with arthritis, the lifting of the gate to open is many times difficult; hence 4 stars. It IS sturdier than the gate it replaces.

We tried 3 other brands before buying this one and my toddler broke them all. At only 2½ she would climb over the short gates, sit and pull at the bottom until the plastic broke or she would figure out how to open the latch. This gate by far has been the best! I LOVE how wide the door is, the height doesn’t allow her the climb over (unless she stands on something ????) and because it’s locks securely at the bottom she can’t pull it open! Over all great baby gate. I have already purchased a second.
MW –
Easy to install. Be aware that it closes automatically only. You can not just leave it open with out propping it open with something. If u have cats they will not fit through the gate and it a high jump for most cats, especially older felines.

Love love LOVE this gate!!! Originally purchased 3, once installed I ordered 2 more! Keeps the dogs right where I want them! 4 month old cocker spaniel kept climbing the old gate and getting out roaming the house unsupervised while I was away…No More! She stays in the area I want her to be! These gates are well worth the money, very sturdy, easy to assemble and the swing gate (both directions) is awesome – no more stepping over the old gates risking a tumble. Great investment, highly recommend!

The addition of this gate has helped to keep our two cats from waking us up too early. They are not able to go between the bars. I also use it to keep the cats away from my dining and living areas when I am mopping.
Casey E –
It’s a great gate. It’s tall enough and the only one we could find with the features we need, but we are on our 4th one in less than 2 years. They break so fast. The latch breaks so easy and we end up having to replace it…over and over. I so wish they would fix it. ????

Great alternative to flimsy baby gates.Heavy duty metal adheres to doorways. They get HEAVY use in our house and so far, for the most part they have held up.However, the hinge on one broke after about a month of use and there is no way to fix it so every time we open it, it slips off and it’s a real pain. They do need a regular dose of WD40 because they start to squeak after a bit.Ironically, after writing this review, the hinge on the second gate broke. Time to look at the warranty.

IMO the 39″ high MidWest Homes Steel Pet Gate is an excellent product. It’s very well made, well designed, looks good and easy to install. The only reservation I have is that my young cat grew to where she could jump over it’s 39″ height – so, it became more of a deterrent rather than a barrier. But I would still recommend it for applicable situations – and only wish it came in say a 45″ height.

So I researched many gates before deciding on this one. I needed a gate that our little crazy pekingese couldn’t chew on, knock over, or squeeze through. I also wanted one that would be easy to get through since we have two kids and a teenager. So far I am pleased with this gate. It does it’s job and isn’t a hassle to open and close. It is actually very easy to open and the gate tends to close itself behind you. We have it pressure mounted and it’s been pretty sturdy. It also has the option to wall mount instead of pressure mount and comes with those fittings. Latch works great. It’s automatic swing closed, opens both ways. Comes with an extra section which we didn’t need right now. The cats jump over it or wait beside it for us to open it for them. So glad we got this! It looks nice too!

Had some difficulty installing but we have high molding where we used it and it sits a little off center. But that’s the issue with the doorframe not the gate. Pup hates being locked up in the kitchen but he hasn’t managed to get over this gate. …. yet

I’ve looked everywhere for a gate for the top of our stairs that is tall enough to keep our golden retriever mix from jumping over and going to the. Basement when she gets scared. This one does the job, and so far we are very pleased. It has all the features I was looking for: tall enough, solid metal construction, sturdiness, single handed operation, gate swings both ways, self closes and latches on its own, and secure enough to protect children. Plus it looks great also. I got the Wall Nanny rectanular wall protectors which fit very well on our stair location. I’m optimistic that it will serve its purpose well for a long time

We got this gate for our new dog. Very sturdy, good looking and taller than most. I understand why some people have trouble with the opening, although it’s really useable, and because it latches at both the top and the bottom, is really stable. We ordered a second one to replace an older gate.
Sam Cochran –
This seems like a good gate for a good price. It was easy to install–I had to use both extensions. Requires some hand strength to reconfigure pieces for the larger gate. My only worry is that the gate opens with two steps: first you slide the thumb catch back and second you have to lift the gate to free the bottom corner. It closes easily without any lifting. I worry that the gate mechanism will be damaged by people unfamiliar with it as they attempt to figure out how it works. If you’ve ever had exterior French doors, you’ll understand my lack of faith in people’s ability to operate unfamiliar door locks and latches. I think I’ll either make a sign or swap the gate with one from another part of the house. Another feature is that the hinge is spring loaded and closes on its own. In some situations this feature might be a nuisance–when you’re carting in groceries, for example.

It does the job – it kept our dog from getting into the cat litter. However we had three issues with it:1) it’s hard to open, you need to pull up somewhat hard to get it open.2) it can damage paint on wall because it’s relying on high pressure to stay secure. After a year of use I’ve had some distinct circle marks left on the walls3) this is a little hard to explain but the latch starts out partially open – the two ends don’t meet. you need to add enough pressure to get them to connect. God help you if you lose the little wrench that helps you tighten like I did.Overall an OK product but definitely could be designed better to mitigate what I outlined above.

While this is a sturdy gate that’s easy to use there are a few important details not provided in the description. First and foremost the gate will not stay open. If you have a space that always needs to be protected then the auto-close gate is great. If you have a nervous dog who needs time to go through the gate, you may find holding the gate open a pain in the neck. Another important detail not provided in the assembly instructions is that you need to use the tool provided to take out the plastic pieces from the sides, then use the other plastic pieces to actually put the gate together. Once you figure this step out, it’s easy going and the gate is sturdy and easy to open.

This is perfect. The height, color, and installation are perfect. Very easy directions for installation. I did it àll by my self in just a few minutes.

I love it so much! It fits perfectly and none of my cats can fit through it! Not even our 9 month old kitten! The door is also spring loaded so it closes itself when you let go, which is awesome if your hands are full. It was super easy to install and it’s actually really sturdy/solid. I’m overall impressed!

Great great product. We have a home dog business and this keeps the upstairs dog free. We go through it dozens of times a day. We’ve had it for months and really are very pleased with it. The double latch mechanism is perfect to keep the 4 legged kids from getting through the gate. Awesome purchase.

This was easy to install, required no tools. The gate swings shut automatically. It took a few times to remember there was a piece on the floor that had to be walked over. It looks so much better than the old wooden accordion gate it replaced. We love it.

Difficult to install and use. The top of the door is manufactured about an inch wider than the bottom, and installation depends on the spring pressure of the top against the door opening. Screws to compress the top are difficult to place and turn. After completing the install, the strength required to press the button to operate the opening hurts my hands. Did the job, but I am going to buy a different design for the next puppy.
MinnesotaSue –
Love this gate. It replaces one we purchased probably 10 years ago that finally gave out. This one is SO MUCH MORE sturdy and I love the taller height. We have labs and sometimes they can jump higher than expected. I love how the gate will shut after you by itself. We bought the brown color and it looks so nice. We’ve had this now for a few months and there are no regrets. I put it together myself (without my husband) so if I can do it, most anyone can.
Answer4me –
It was easy to install, sturdy and l love the gate that locks automatically.Push the button back and lift gate at same time with your left hand and lift with your right hand.. It won’t break then.
Brandon Lowder –
Install was a very time consuming. DO NOT like how you have to lift the gate up while holding the “button/lever” on top. My youngest can not open the gate so we had to tape the spring loaded latch on the bottom in with duck tape. Also makes it very hard to open the gate if you have something in your hand as it almost takes two hands just to lift up on it. Wish they would have designed it that when you pushed the latch on top the bottom latch would move as well. ALSO, after just a week of using the gate became very noisy when being opened. There is no sneaking in to the kitchen late at night for a quick snack any more. The whole house can hear that gate open and shut! Using it while our puppy gets potty trained but cant wait to get rid of them.

This is a nice gate, but a bit difficult to install. We had some issues getting it in our normal size door frame (required some backbone to squeeze it in there) but it sure does fit snugly! After that, it was just interesting to try to get it actually latch due to the opening. We had to do a lot of tugging and pulling to get it all to line up correctly. It was a bit of a workout. However, once you figure it out– it is awesome! Very sturdy, I love how it automatically closes, and the door is the right height to unlatch it without straining your back or bending over.

NOVEMBER 2017 – My gate is BROKEN!!! After 11 months of regular use, the spring in the joint suddenly jumped out and cannot be fixed (spring broke the joint apart when it came out). I am very disappointed and will be looking into a different brand when reordering. This was an awesome gate for 11months, I just wish it had a longer lifespan.DECEMBER 2016 – I’ve had this for almost two weeks and am VERY happy!!! The installation was super easy after watching the instruction video and following the instructions carefully. I try not to let the door slam in order to maintain the integrity of the gate. My 4 pound dog cannot fit through the bars which was an initial concern for me. I prop the gate open with a weight when the dog is allowed access to the entire house. Overall, the gate works great and I am happily satisfied!!

The gate is very well constructed and a great design but probably shouldn’t be used at the top of a stairway. The small rise below the gate could cause a tripping issue. For a hallway it would be perfect! I sure wish I could have used it. I returned it right away without any problem. 4 stars because of my situation, 5 stars for overall quality.
Zaneta J –
I ordered two of these gates and installed them as soon as they came. The first gate took two people to install, which wasn’t a problem. The second gate did not come with the screws or the things it needed to put it in. Then when I looked up the company to ask for the screws I Could not find where to request them. To this day I have one gate I can not install. Very disappointed because the first gate works great.

We needed a gate to keep our fur babies seperated since one was having surgery and didn’t want to make him stay in a kennel during recoup. This gate is soooooooo sturdy and easy to put as a barried between front and back of the house in the hallway entry and it looks good to— We are just keeping it up because it looks cool there. Was a great purchase and quality craftsmanship for sure.
Courtney KCourtney K –
This gate is nice and works as described, but after having it up for about two weeks, I took it down to move some furniture, and the pressure-mounts took off big chunks of paint. Now I have to repaint the doorframe. I wish I knew about the risk of paint damage ahead of time so I could’ve covered the mounts with fabric or something that wouldn’t have damaged the doorframe.
amolba –
This is a very sturdy gate., but I find it difficult to open. You need to pull back on the lever while lifting it up. Not easy, but if you have anything in your hand, almost impossible. I have other gates with a lift lever which are much easier.
Amazon_Customer –
This gate is super high quality and sturdy. Much better than the last gate we had. Easy to install and open. My two complaints are that I wish there was a setting to turn the auto close off, or a setting to keep the gate open. This is in the doorway of our kitchen, where our dog stays during the workday, but is open during the evenings and weekend. We have used a caribiner and one of those stretchy rubber keychains to hold it open. Also, our small dog can fit her head into the bars, especially the expander section. We have covered that part with a towel, but perhaps an optional webbing in case your dog can fit their head through the bars would be helpful.

We bought this gate to keep our little dog, an excellent escape artist, confined in a room while we are out. For him, the cheaper plastic or wood pressure-mounted gates, even if double stacked, could be easily dislodged. This metal gate was not the easiest to assemble, and positioning and mounting was a 2 person job. Nevertheless, it is extremely sturdy and convenient to use, and did the job well. One caution though – there is a horizontal bar at the bottom of the gate which is a trip hazard, so it should be placed as close to the floor as possible, and preferably not in a frequently used doorway or opening.
CAF –
In literature says item does not need to be drilled in…which living in an apartment is why we bought it….in order for gate to work properly upon opening closing one must drill item into wall….this was not an option for those of us living in an apartment and landlord will not allow permanent alterations

I bought this gate years ago, and had it until it recently broke down from over use. Because it had worked so well for so long, I bought the exact same gate again. I need to add on the extension in order for it to fit in the doorway, but I can’t because on this new gate the small plastic pieces at the bottom of the gate disintegrated while trying to remove them (with a flathead screwdriver as instructed by the manufacturer). There are still plastic pieces stuck inside preventing me from attaching the extension. I can’t figure out how to remove them. Because of this, the new gate is utterly useless to me. I’ve had it too long to return so now I’m stuck with it. I won’t buy this again.

I have 2 small dogs. A bit overkill for lil Fatso, but I’ve watched my 14 lb Maltese mix jump up and climb over…once. I guess it was painful as she now just squeezes in between the bars. But as far as quality of build and engineering, I recommend it. My only critique is that I wish it had a built in means of remaining open. I have to prop it open with a doorstop. Other than that it is attractive and well built.
Reg Customer –
The extensions need assembled and not real easy to put together. Do not use outside on porch or deck in winter. Water gets into the latch to lock and unlock the gate. In the winter, it will freeze and unable to open.

This is the 2nd one I have bought. I wouldn’t have bought it again if it wasn’t a good gate, it’s just that my 100+ lb Rottweiler is hard on gates.

This gate is wonderful. I did have to return the first one because the little plastic nub latch was not releasing from the open position (where the latch is retracted). The return was very easy and I was sent a new product right away. This time the latching worked well. The gate was super easy to install without drilling holes in the wall and stays firmly in place. It expanded to fit my door way and is very sturdy.

I have 3 different types of gates in my home spanning a 10 year period of time. Some are wood, one is plastic and this is my first all metal. The only problem with this one is that I cannot get it to stay open. I have to use a rubber band and a magnetic clip to attach it to the side of the refrigerator to keep it open. Otherwise when I open it the girls have to hustle through else chance getting caught in the “snap back” after it’s released! It’s a good thing they are quick learners! The little one got her tail caught one time but since then she’s become my “speediest”!

This gate is so well made! I’ve had both of our 60 lb dogs jump up on it and it’s never worried me that it will collapse or scratch the walls. It also looks very nice! I’ve had a lot of compliments on it and I’ve been able to recommend this to other people. It’s just complicated enough to open, that you wouldn’t have to worry about children figuring it out too!Best purchase I’ve made for our new home!

Product exceeded expectations and works great. Assembly looks difficult at first but it is really not hard. And we are not so good at assembly. Actually we did not need to drill holes and it fit perfectly in a normal size door frame. Before you consider drilling holes for security, try it and once you start the fitting on each side, it squares up nicely.

We’ve tried many dog gates the years. This one is by far the best. It is super easy to install and has lasted well over a year and I still like new even though it is used frequently, many times per day. Highly recommend this gate and it was worth every penny.

I love this gate and it does everything I need it to do. However, one thing I was not aware of in purchasing this gate is that if you are planning on using it in a doorway that has a door in it, the top of the gate hits exactly the same height as the doorknob. So, if the gate is shut and the door is also shut, it is very difficult to access the doorknob. That is the one disappointing aspect of the gate. Other than that, it is a great product!

Very easy to install. I had a small doorway, so i didn’t have to use the extentions. Very sturdy and really pretty to be inside. I paid less for this than the ugly plastic one i had before!!

To keep our dog in the kitchen- Great quality and my son installed with no issues, it’ s much nicer than the gate we got from Home Depot, much easier to open and has a magnetic closure. I wish I had bought this one for both areas. Really nice, very happy with this purchase.

We got this gate to help keep the cats out of the kitchen, and it’s doing it’s job. My cats are both about 9-10 lbs approx. 3-4 years old, and cannot fit through the spaces between the bars; They can, however, jump over this (when they get older they may not make the jump but for now they can). What we did was put a shorter curtain up, so they don’t have access to view where the top of it ends. (I know this sounds like a lot to keep them out, but it’s working and we don’t want them on the counter ha.) The quality of the product is great, because we’re using it for access to the kitchen, it’s used multiple times daily, and we’ve not notice any adjustments needed since we first put it in, about 3 weeks ago. I would definitely recommend this product as a pet gate!

This tall gate is extra sturdy and contains my 80lb Great Dane pup well. To open the gate you have to pull back on the button with your thumb then lift the entire gate at the same time, which can be done with one hand. However, over the course of a couple of months I have developed a Repetitive Stress Injury in my wrist that is extremely painful. I still use the gate, and am contemplating purchasing another, for a different room, as I love how well made and sturdy it is, but I have adjusted to using two hands to mindfully open the gate without causing further pain/damage to my wrist. A nuisance, but totally doable. Still giving it 5 stars because it effectively keeps my pup safe and out of trouble, as well as looks nice.

Love this gate! It even keeps my cats from going into my bedroom. I can now leave my door open, get good air flow and not be bothered by the cats! The spaces between bars are small enough that my 13 and 15 year old cats can’t get through. So far they have not tried to jump the gate. I will have to wait and see if open windows in my bedroom this fall will be enough of an enticement to encourage them to try the jump. Fingers Crossed!

It tightens against the door frame and stays in place without having to screw anything in which I was wanting to avoid. The vertical bars prevent climbing. It locks in place being you so you don’t have to remind yourself to close it. We use it to restrict the rest of the house if we are in the living area so we have to prop it open with something when we are not restricting the rest of the house. Overall, very worth it for the price! I think it looks nicer than some other gates out there around the same price.

I purchased this brand of gate only due to the height, as my new dog was jumping the normal height gate I had used for years. This gate is sturdy and overall a nice gate. My main problems are 1 – it is much harder to open with one hand (my favorite gate mechanism is on the Munchkin brand), 2 – it swings shut by itself and 3 – the plastic round pieces meant to tighten in place is hard to get tight enough to keep in place (replaced with metal nuts that came with the Munchkin brand gate). Wish Munchkin made a taller gate….

I have bought 3 of these gates in the past 2 months. The first one came with the latch broken. The second one snapped at the top hinge that swings when opening gate within 3 weeks of use. The manufacturer accepted it back and sent me a new one, and now the new gate has broken only 2 weeks after installing it. My 12 year old daughter was opening the gate normally and the plastic piece near the spring at the hinge snapped. This is the same exact way the other one broke. Also the latch is hard to use. You have to lift and push to open. My ten-year-old son has a hard time opening it; I have to help him.I’m looking for a strong gate that can keep my five-month-old, 45 lb black lab contained and that won’t break every few weeks.

The gate works just fine and closes well when you swing it shut, but it doesn’t have a way to make it stay open like the older model. I guess it really depends on why you’re using it. If you’re going to keep it closed all the time, it’s great. It’s tall and if you have it screwed into the wall, it’s sturdy.

It was a little challenging for me adding the extensions, but I REALLY like this gate! It is sturdy, attractive, and easy to use. Installation with the supports took a little more time, but is worth the effort. I plan to have this gate up for a really long time! I wish they made one wide enough for my double wide doorway master bedroom!

This is one of the best pet gates we’ve seen and used! Installation is straight-forward, as is its usage. The installed unit has a finished looking appearance, unlike many of the kid and pet restraints we’ve seen. One can easily open the gate one-handed. The self-closing feature uses gravity rather than any springs. The finish has proven to be durable thus far. This is a solid, well made gate!

This gate works very well. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. The gate goes together quickly and easily. Only took a few minutes to install, basically the time it takes to turn the bolts and fine adjust. The gate closes by itself which is nice. Its very sturdy. Great for the price.

It is fairly difficult to get the gate installed . I have a narrow doorway but when I checked the measurements it stated it would fit. I had to have my son in law put it in for me, and he did say if the doorway had been even a fraction narrower it never would have made it.

At first I was frustrated with this gate. It took me a few tries to get it “just right” and adjusted properly. The extensions didn’t seem to want to work for me. But, it was me, not the gate. Now that I have everything correct, I LOVE this gate. It keeps the dogs out of the basement, but it’s low enough that the cats can jump over to get to their litter box.

Took a few to realize i put it together wrong. But thats on me. Male dna does not allow one to read instructions before assembly. But after i installed it we love it. Easy to operate and allows us to open the door in the summer and get a breeze through the house. Even magnetized a piece cloth on it to keep our dogs from yelling at people walking by.

Great gate! Was the only kind I could mount between the porch railing and the house wall without screws. I use it outside for 6 months now, despite it says that it’s for indoor use. Perfectly keeps my dogs from ruining my back porch and from scratching the back door when they want to come inside the house. My porch stays clean, my door is beautiful and not damaged, while my dogs are waiting by the gate when I open it to let them in. Just what I needed!! Love it!!
